Now converted as a traditional rural home, Laurel Wharf is available for exclusive use as a self-catering holiday retreat in Somerset. Westport is a relaxing village located in the rural seclusion of the countryside. This area has a variety of wildlife and stunning scenery, with a comprehensive network of public footpaths that makes for excellent walking, there are also many cycle routes and quiet roads in the region, plus many other country pursuits including; fishing and birdwatching.

At Laurel Wharf the two and a half miles of Westport Canal ends. Westport was created as an inland port by the Parrett Navigation Company at the height of the canal era. Built on the western edge of Barrington Parish, at the levels of the moors and rhines settled in amongst South Somerset in the West Country meadowlands.The canal was worked until the 1880s. The turning bay at Laurel Wharf has been tended for more than a hundred years, and now overgrown is a host to many different species of birds, wildlife, flora and fauna. The Canal leads into the River Isle which runs into the River Parrett, with footpaths all the way that lead you onto the Parrett trail and beyond.
The accommodations has a traditional aspect, with open beams, stone walls and wooden flooring. It can sleep up to four people, with one double bedroom fully carpeted, one large double sofa bed in the main living area; duvets, pillows and bed linen supplied. An extra large grand bedroom with en-suite is also available. The lounge/dinning area, is spacious and open planned (20ftx30ft), with loading doors opening on to a juliet balcony above the (abandoned) canal, looking towards the east. The apartment contains television, DVD player, video, radio and CD player and wireless broadband connection is provided. Another pair of loading doors looking down onto your own patio area, with seating and barbecue, allowing you to eat your mealsb"al fresco" alongside the canal. Bathroom with bath, electric shower, wash hand basin and bidet, towels supplied. The kitchen is well-equipped, with crockery and cooking utensils; fridge/freezer, microwave, electric cooker, washing machine, iron and ironing board. A tumble dryer is available. The Garden can be used for barbeques or other activities. Parking, there is plenty of off-road parking next to your own private entrance.
