The food at the brue is superb, British with a continental twist. The Brue at Lydford is a much praised restaurant with rooms situated on the heart of Somerset. The accommodation is set in a handsome 19th Century Victorian house in Lydford on Fosse, close to the villages of Somerton, Wincanton, Glastonbury, Street and Langport. The restaurant is a favourite with discerning local diners and good food is our primary focus, be it breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. The focus is very much on sourcing locally from the West Country but many ingredients are also sourced from as close to the nearby River Brue as possible.
There is much to see and do in the local area including the Fleet Air Museum, the Royal and West Showground, Manor Farm Racing Stables and a range of beautiful National Trust properties. Cheddar Caves and Wookey Hole are both local, as is Clark's Village in nearby street. The brue is also an ideal location when visiting the private, independent boarding schools in the area, e.g. Millfield, Hazlegrove Preparatory School, Sherborne School for Boys, Sherborne School for Girls, Bruton School for Girls, Kings Bruton Boys School and Sexey's Bruton, the state boarding school, also in Bruton, and Chilton Cantelo School.
The Brue offers four delightful en-suite guest rooms, with lovely views across open countryside and towards Glastonbury Tor. One of the real bonuses of a night at the brue is the option of a Somerset full English breakfast, probably the best country house breakfast you're ever likely to taste!
We will be opening all day, everyday in the summer months.
