Welcome to the Thatched Meadow Cottage, Luxury Bed and Breakfast, a fine 17th century thatched former farm house, set in an acre of mature south facing gardens in the lee of the Mendip Hills, offering wonderfully comfortable private and tranquil accommodation to guests, furnished with antiques, in a family friendly way. The property was completely refurbished in 2006, removing the idiosyncratic quirks from the plumbing and installing a professional kitchen. We have two terraces which allow for summer dining and alfresco BBQs.

We are 1 mile from Bristol International Airport but completely free of airport or road noise. Transfers to the airport can be arranged, car parking is also available for the duration of your holiday abroad. All meals are prepared in our state of the art kitchen from locally sourced and where possible organic ingredients. Try our home made breads for breakfast. We are 20 to 25 minutes from Bristol and around 40 minutes from Bath. The cities offer a diverse range of entertainment, Bristol with its University is full of clubs, bars and eateries, with mainstream shopping, at Cabot Circus, including Harvey Nichols and Cribs Causeway. Bath is rather more sophisticated with possibly the best shopping outside London, fine dining and antique shops. Locally there are interesting walks, cycle routes, a dry ski slope, swimming pools, opportunities for riding, caving and fishing or why not go and watch banger racing on the Mendips.

Rooms Description

Our guest lounge is furnished with comfy sofas and in the Winter you may wish to while a way some time in front of the inglenook fire. We have 5 King Sized double rooms, plus a Twin room furnished for comfort. The four poster Kings room has a contemporary en suite shower room, and lounging space. The Queen room features a four poster and shares a traditionally fitted bathroom. The Dukes room has a king sized oak Cottage bed, and shares the traditional bathroom. The large super kingsized double has en en suite shower room. The small king sized double has an adjacent bath/shower room. The Twin is a small but lovely room, ideally suited to a parent and child or for use as a single with a large en suite wet room . All our rooms have cafeteria coffee making, selection of teas, fresh milk and bottled water. Our bed linens are simple in white but of the highest quality smooth Egyptian high thread count cotton. We provide luxuriously thick cotton towels. Luxury toiletries are provided in each bathroom. The rooms are traditionally furnished, with mostly antique furniture and feature the original heavily beamed ceilings. A Hair Drier or Iron is available

Specialities

The guest lounge is a comfortable space with a very large inglenook fireplace. Wi fi is available in this room. We also have a small library available for you to use. We have an extensive range of DVDs from which guest can make a selection. Fancy toning up? Why not use our small but well fitted Gym. We have both dogs and a cat, which are all stupidly friendly. We can accommodate well behaved pets (max 2) as well, making it a truly family break.
