    Around and About

Situated on the border between Somerset and Dorset, the village of Henstridge is located at the head of the lush Blackmore Vale, used as the setting of Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. Surrounded by glorious countryside, Henstridge is well served by a shop, pubs, restaurants and a cafe and offers numerous trails for cyclists and walkers along scenic country routes. Ideally located for exploring Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, the village is within easy reach of the historic town of Sherborne, famous for its abbey, castles and as the home of Sir Walter Raleigh. Close by are a number of National Trust properties including the stunning Stourhead House and Gardens, whilst the nearby hilltop town of Shaftesbury, best known for the picturesque Gold Hill, is also within easy reach. With the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath and The Dorset Heritage Coast all just a short drive away, this is a wonderfully diverse location.

Somerset offers 3 areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock, Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Lose yourself in the glory of nature, take a ride on a steam train, visit a traditional farmers' market or explore your mystical side at Glastonbury.
